Dreadfully Delicious - Heee-ya!
Something you probably didn't know about me....
I take Karate lessons.
I'm a member of the Highland Wado-Kai Karate club. Surprisingly, for being in the smallish town of Dundas, it's an awesome club and very competitive. These kids have won tons of national awards over the years...and, lucky me! it's just down the street!
I like to get out and do some karate choppin' at least twice a week. But recently I've had to hang-up my karate gi for a few weeks. I had some eye-surgery on Oct 16th.
Let me explain. The Lepage men have poor eyes. My father, my brother and me, we all have problems with the wee lenses in our eyes. The surgery was to implant a manufactured lens in my left eye (called an intra-occular implant) ...which means.........
....no more contact lens in the left eye....whoohooo!! (they're a bit of a pain - now only my right eye will be constantly bloodshot - now they'll never know if it's the drugs or the video games! )
So I had to sit out on Karate while my eye healed (that's me flying through the air btw).
Tonight I donned my gi for the first time in 3 weeks.
Have you ever felt reluctant to exercise? (dumb question, right?) Well, with Karate classes, they just plain hurt you (at least in my head, they do), sort of.
Whenever I've missed a few classes, in my head I'm dreading going back.
Have you ever felt that way about a yoga class or a kick-boxing class or hockey?
I think we are wired to anticipate some hurting along with the exercising. The irony is, I always feel soooooo good after a Karate-choppin' class - all of a sudden I remember how much I love it.
Weird eh?
What's your exercise of choice? Does life ever get in the way of your exercising? Do you ever dread gettin' back on the horse after a few weeks off? Fill me in.
To your Health and Happiness,
Michael
