He wanted to be Captain Kirk

Captain James KirkI read an article in my local newspaper today about Randy Pausch.  I hadn't really heard the name before until I did some research online.  A professor at Carnegie-Mellon University, I wished I had met Randy Pausch because he inspired a whole lot of people.  In 2006, he was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and wasn't given long to live.  Shortly after being diagnosed, he gave an incredible talk called "The Last Lecture - Achieving your Childhood Dreams."  I just watched it and had to post about it right away.   BTW: over 4 million people have viewed his lecture on YouTube.  In his lecture, he outlines how he has accomplished all of his childhood dreams, including becoming Captain Kirk.  Randy didn't identify with his diagnosis.  In fact, he lived boldly in the face of his cancer, constantly having fun, a truly amazing stance on life.

Sadly, Randy passed away yesterday, July 25th from complications related to pancreatic cancer.  I just wanted to honour him and his family.

Namaste,
